The defense does not improve enough in games against ranked teams.The Longhorns lose to Oklahoma State again, and Oklahoma is happy to knock Texas out of the Big 12 race with a convincing victory in the Red River Showdown. Texas finishes 8-4, watches Texas A&M make the Playoff and faces North Carolina – led by Mack Brown – in a second-tier bowl game.
