DALLAS – Undefeated 140-pound champions Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker and Jose Ramirez will look to get one step closer to seeing a true undisputed champion reign over the junior welterweight division when the two clash at the College Park Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington on DAZN.

It’s an intriguing battle of rising stars who will risk not only their titles, but their undefeated records as they aim to unify the titles and look ahead to a showdown with the winner of another unification fight between fellow champions Regis Prograis and Josh Taylor. Hooker (26-0-3, 17 KO), the WBO champion, has been known as “The Road Warrior” who has traveled to the hometowns of other fighters in order to make a name for himself. But after upending Terry Flanagan last year to become champion, the 29-year-old from Oak Cliffs, TX. will finally get his homecoming fight.

Across from him will be Ramirez (24-0, 16 KOs), the WBC titlist. Ramirez won the WBC title with an impressive performance against Amir Imam back in March of 2018. The 26-year-old has drawn huge audiences in his hometown in Fresno, Calif. over the years, but decided that traveling to enemy territory to unify was well worth the visit.

It’s a true 50-50 fight between two of the top fighters in the division. It is also significant as the two fighters compete for different promotions and on different networks, but wanted the fight and left their respective promoters no choice but to do business together. Ramirez currently competes for Top Rank, who has a long-term deal with ESPN, while Hooker is co-promoted by Matchroom Boxing and has a deal to air fights on DAZN’s streaming platform. It’s proof that two sides can play nice when necessary and the fight fans are the winners.

Also featured on the card is IBF super featherweight champion Tevin Farmer (29-4-1, 6 KOs 1 No Contest), as he defends his title for the fourth time in less than a year when he faces Frenchman Guillaume Frenois (46-1, 12 KOs).
