Mike Trout injury update: Angels star 'day to day' with calf tightness

Mike Trout left Sunday’s game against the Mariners early.

The Angels star left the contest for good after the second inning because of tightness in his right calf, Los Angeles announced. He is considered day to day.

Trout lined out in his lone at-bat of the day.

The 27-year-old center fielder is an eight-time All-Star and two-time American League MVP. He is a front-runner for the award once again this season.

Trout has tallied 30 home runs and 75 RBIs while slashing .306/.456/.668 in a strong ninth season in MLB.

The Angels entered Sunday with a 47-46 record. They trail the American League West leading Astros by 11 games and are five games out of the second wild-card spot.
